A mouse may report more than one click for a physical press, but a browser test cannot tell whether the cause is switch bounce, a second press, mouse software, or event timing. Open the mouse tester and test each button with deliberate single presses; compare the count and recent event intervals.

If the behavior repeats, reconnect the mouse and test in another browser or on another computer before drawing conclusions. A browser reading is not proof of a hardware fault, and repeating the test cannot confirm that a repair succeeded.
